Locations

We have chosen a possible location to film our music video. The surroundings near the John Barleycorn in Duxford would be perfect for our setting as there are street lights so if we choose to film a part of the video in the dark there will be lighting. There is an ally way right next to the pub and Mill Lane opposite is quiet, so if we choose to film there we wouldn't disturb anyone. Furthermore this location is easier and more convenient for us and the actors/actresses in our music video to get to and film.

The house we are thinking of filming in is down this road.

First Ideas for Shot List

We will need to film both the artists singing there parts all the way through to enable us to cut the shots into multiple shots when needed.

1. introducing female artist - setting up dinner table/ cooking?
2. 0.20-  man pushes someone else away, shouting (close-up in slow-motion)
3. flicking between man and women for the first minute - include split-screen
4. lots of close-ups of artist and props - candles, plates, etc
5. high angle shot looking down at the boys fighting
6. man on floor against wall - cornered by a group of men - slow-motion as they walk up to him, frame man with groups legs
7. female artist drinks away her sorrows - wine bottles and glasses - close-ups, mid-shots, long shot down table
8. A range of shots as the male artist walks home, beaten up - wearing sunglasses, hoodie, etc.
9. Male artist knocks at the door - close-up of hand, mid-shot and lon-shot of him waiting
10. Female comes to the door - range of different angles
11. framing shot of male artist (wearing sunglasses) through a small opening of the door - shouting and fighting
12. She closes the door - shouting -lots of close-ups
13. long-shot / mid-shot of both the artists at both sides of the door ( to create split-screen shot)

Great Tips on shooting Music Videos

When researching music videos on Youtube I came across this video with great tips for making music videos. Obviously as our music video won't be on such a large scale as the man talking is suggesting there are still some essential great tips that anyone making a music video needs to consider. For example we will need....

• a CD player / Ipod so that everyone can listen to the song when filming.
• a range of clothes to change in to for variety
• locations planned and sorted
• to sort out times for everyone to show up
• reliable actors/ actresses to play the artist and characters in the music video
• equipment (camera, tripod, dolly, DSLR etc.)
• props
• and lots more etc.....

Lyrics Analysis

Analysing the mood

From looking at the lyrics we realised that there is a different meaning behind the words love and war. Instead of actually being about war or fighting it is more about the good and bad parts of relationships. For example she is singing about making love and not making each other angry or upset. Therefore the mood of this song is sad but also hope for their future together for loving and not hating.

Representation of the Artist

As the lyrics for 'Love and War' is about the ups and downs of a relationship, this may represent Rita Ora's own relationship experience and how she felt at the time or still feels. This may also represent her emotions which the listener/ audience may relate to. By writing / singing about subjects that relate to others creates a specific target audience, in this case older teenagers - early twenties. Most of Rita Ora's work is based around the subject of 'teenage life' this categorises her into that specific age group.
